Well it’s been at least a month since I switched to Ubuntu at home. Haven’t found anything I can’t do yet…
So far I’ve got:
Mail = Gmail
Browser = Firefox
RSS Reader = Liferea
News Reader = Pan
IDE = Eclipse/Bluefish/Screem
AIM = Gaim
Music = misc programs I’m trying out…
So far the only catch I’ve run into is I can’t one Microsoft Access file I had some stuff stored in… I can probably tap into via ODBC somehow but it’s not worth the effort. Otherwise everything has been running smooth. Still need to tweak my fonts a bit, and I need to finish my VMWare/Windows XP install (it balked about my Windows key which I know is valid).
If you have been sitting on the fence in regards to switching – I’d urge you to give Ubuntu (or one of the other Linux flavors) a try!
