Here is a neat one I just stumbled upon. I’m always trying to remember wiki syntax when updating my wiki… I am always using Trac wiki syntax on Mediawiki, etc.
Today I was digging through the Mediawiki documentation and found a Firefox extension which gives you a Wikipedia toolbar! On initial installation – it complains that it won’t work for Firefox 2.x but I found some simple instructions on how to hack the code to make it work.
It has some nice options – one of which is that the toolbar won’t appear unless it sees ‘wiki’ in the URL. I’m still exploring – but if you do a lot of Mediawiki editing – this could be a real time saver.
On a side note – at one time I was developing some AutoHotKey scripts to do wiki editing – and my idea was to use the same keystrokes but have different scripts for editing various wikis – Mediawiki, Trac, Twiki, etc. I need to finish that :)
Thanks for this primer. I would love to find out how your Hotscripts are going? If you need a tester, shout :-)
