508 - Looking For Book Recommendations

Working for The Man we are finally cracking down on 508 compliance here. I’m curious if anyone has read any good books on the subject they could recommend?

I do a lot of things for accessibility already but I’m sure I could do more. I’m also struggling with accessibility while implementing things like jQuery.

The actual rules can be found at http://www.section508.gov.

A good book on Accessibility is Jim Thatcher’s Web Accessibility: Web Standards and Regulatory Compliance. http://www.amazon.com/Web-Acce.....amp;sr=1-1

While Section 508 is undergoing a refresh, its still at Version 1 right now and will be for at least another year. This precludes a lot of javascript, but if you want to take a chance or at least start looking at it seriously, you might want to look at Dojo, it has the accessibility aspects built into it. http://www.dojotoolkit.org.

JQuery had a plugin called JAria which pulled in accessibility and I know they are going to put it into the core, but I haven’t been able to find out when.

Thanks for the resources! I will check out JAria and see what the status of that is…
