Dear Adobe, Where Is My ColdFusion Swag?

CFDude

There has a been a good discussion on Gary Gilbert’s blog about the CFDude shirt that was given out at MAX.   I hate seeing stuff like this:

  1. Because I wasn’t at MAX so no cool shirt for me :(
  2. Adobe doesn’t provide stuff like this to the unwashed masses…

I then went digging around the Adobe site wondering if they did have a ‘store’ online.  I never found it on the Adobe site itself but a quick Google pointed me towards Adobe Branded Merchandise.

Unfortunately that is all it is… Adobe stuff.  No ColdFusion shirts.  No Flex hats. No Forta posters for the bedroom.  No cool AIR stickers for my laptop.

Dear Adobe marketing.  Geeks like t-shirts.

Give a geek a shirt (or allow me to purchase one) and it’s FREE ADVERTISING for the life of the shirt!

I still have an Allaire ColdFusion shirt (and it still fits!).  I have a Macromedia ColdFusion bumper sticker.  I have a CF hat I wear everywhere (getting a bit thin on top).   Why can’t I get stuff like that directly from Adobe?  I could easily scan stuff and print them at CafePress but somehow that feels wrong and I doubt the lawyers at Adobe would approve.

While I know times are tough it can’t cost that much to print up some things and stick them online.  There is still time before the release of ColdFusion 9.  A Bolt t-shirt would be awesome!  :)

  1. I have an Allaire fleece (a bit tight around the tummy now) and an Allaire pen (still writes!) and I consider them cooler than Adobe CF gear because they’re the originals. Sort of retro. :-)

Maybe Adobe don’t want geeks to be seen wearing the Adobe logo? They’d feel better knowing that only the “cool” designer people who use Photoshop and Illustrator wear their logo. Or maybe those people are so cool that they find it uncool to wear stuff that promotes computer software?

So whichever way you look at it, it’s not worth Adobe doing a print run of a dozen T-shirts! ;-)

  2. i agree! i also love stickers. i was lucky enough to get a few CF stickers for my laptop and even got a CF8 poster at BFusion/BFlex … unfortunately, they didn’t have any Flex or Air stickers though. if anyone has any stickers to spare, please let me know.

  3. I somewhat disagree… one thing is that I couldn’t care less for stickers. They’re just a waste of material and space to me. ;-))

But, I too always complain that our user group does not get the swag it should. We are a CFUG and got Flash and Photoshop t-shirts. Oh, and Flex shirts. :-(

On the other hand I still think the swag should not be given away for free to everyone. Make it giveaways at events instead, even at such small events as local UG meetings. That rewards those being active.

    Just me $0.02

  4. Nick – fair enough – but I’m a CFUG manager and I’m more apt to give shirts away to meeting attendees vs. stocking my closet. So that still leaves me shirtless :)
