Ant Presentation Files

Posted July 1st, 2009. Filed under Code

I’ve finally bundled up my Ant presentation files.  I recently gave this presentation at TACFUG (Triangle Area ColdFusion User Group) and got some pretty positive feedback.

Hopefully now with the examples – people who attended can hack these up and do something useful with them!

This file contains:

  • Older PPT version of the presentation I gave on CFMeetup (it has more useful notes in it)
  • JAR files for additional Ant task (there may be newer versions of these but they should get you started)
  • Some example files including a version of the code we use at work (Qasim Rasheed did the macrodef code)

DownloadAnt Presentation (435)

Please note:  Ant can MOVE, COPY, OVERWRITE and DELETE files on your localworkstation and/or production servers, etc.  I take no responsibility if you blow something up with these scripts!! :)

For more information on Ant please check out my wiki:   http://www.thecrumb.com/wiki/ant

Update: If you download these files and do something useful with Ant – please let me know!  I’m always interested to see what people are doing with Ant!

New TACFUG Site

Posted October 1st, 2008. Filed under Code

As I previously mentioned I’ve been busy lately – both at work and lately with our local ColdFusion User Group.

Recently Dan Wilson asked me to join him as co-manager of the Triangle Area ColdFusion  user group (TACFUG).   I’ve been busy revamping our site which was overdue for a facelift.  I rolled out the new site using Matt Woodward’s CHUG application.  Still tweaking things but overall the feedback has been positive. Still need to reskin the blog!

Dan also recently held an online discussion to gather ideas and feedback on promoting local ColdFusion user groups.  We had a nice turnout and got some really good feedback which Dan has collected, condensed and now has available on his site for download.

If you are in the Raleigh/Durham Triangle are please consider coming out to an upcoming TACFUG event or CFLunch!

Triangle Area CFLunch – Come Join Me For Lunch!

Posted April 16th, 2008. Filed under Code

CFLunch

A few weeks ago Dan Wilson and I met for lunch to swap some Flex books (thanks Dan!) and we both commented how we rarely get out of the office. So I thought it might be fun to have a casual ‘geek’ lunch once a month or so just to:

  1. Get out of the office
  2. Meet some fellow developers in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area
  3. Discuss geeky stuff

This is all very casual. Can’t show up – no sweat!

Ideally we could meet 2-3 times a month in various locations around the Triangle. Then everyone could attend a lunch and meet nearby CFers.

  • Work in Chapel Hill – announce a lunch and meet there…
  • Work in Raleigh – let’s meet downtown!

The ultimate goal is to stir up some activity in the local ColdFusion community and get more people out to the TACFUG meetings!!!!

We’ve scheduled our first meeting for this NEXT Friday (April 25th)! More information can be found on the TACFUG website.  If you are interested please leave a comment on the TACFUG site so we can get an idea oh how many to expect.

I’ll be giving a presentation on Selenium and Ant next Tuesday (November 6th) at the Triangle Area ColdFusion User Group. See the TACFUG site for location and details.

I’ll be showing how to setup and use Selenium and the Selenium IDE to create and run tests, and I’ll be giving a brief version of my previous Ant presentation (maybe combining Ant and Selenium!) as well for those who missed that.
